Incident Summary:

03/02/2005: Three unknown perpetrators shot and killed Iraqi Special Tribunal investigative judge, Barwez Mohammed Mahmoud, and his son, Arayane, in Baghdad, Iraq. The two victims were hit with automatic weapons fire outside of their home in Baghdad’s Adhamiya neighborhood. The Iraqi Special Tribunal was established to try Saddam Hussein and other former leaders of Iraq for crimes committed under the former dictator’s regime. No group claimed responsibility for the assassination.
