Incident Summary:

05/25/2005: Suspected Islamic militants attacked a group of police officers in Thailand’s Saiburi (District). The attack began when multiple perpetrators shot and injured a district fire department officer. Six police officers gave chase to the perpetrators, but another group of attackers ambushed them. During the 10 minute gun battle that ensued, one policeman was shot and killed while another was injured. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
