Incident Summary:

06/02/2005: National Integrationist Front (FNI) militiamen fired on a UN helicopter as it took off from Lugo village in Ituri district in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The helicopters were part of UN Organization Mission in the DRCongo (MONUC), and four Nepalese peacekeepers escorting the UN human rights team were hit, one of whom died the following day. The helicopters were attacked on their way back from investigating allegations of rape and other human rights violations in the Lugo village area.
