09/05/2005: Two British soldiers were killed when a roadside bomb exploded while they were traveling in a convoy through the area of Al-Zubeir, about 5 to 12 miles south of Basra, Iraq. Al-Qaida in Iraq claimed responsibility for the bombing in a statement posted on the internet.
