Incident Summary:

01/16/2006: Perpetrators in Basantatar, Nepal, kidnapped 50 students from the Singha Devi Secondary School in the middle of the day. The time of the students' release was not reported in the media, though presumably none of the students were hurt. The perpetrators are frequently referred to as "Maoist guerrillas" in the media, but have not been reported to be a part of a more specific group.
