Incident Summary:

01/23/2006: Members of the Ugandan Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in the Democratic Republic of Congo ambushed and killed eight Guatemalan UN peacekeepers while they were on a reconnaissance mission in Garamba National Park. Specifically, the attack took place in Aba, Orientale Province. Fifteen of the rebels were killed in the firefight as well.
