Incident Summary:

01/30/2006: Over 30 Naxalites attacked a government relief camp at Gangalur in India’s Dantewara district, Chhattisgarh state, where around 5000 displaced tribals were taking shelter. Eleven people died in an hour-long gunfight between the Naxalites and the police, including eight civilians and three Naxalites. At least nine others were injured, including Special Police Officers, civilians, and Naxalites.
