Additional Information Having reached the scene of the ambush at 2130 hours, the patrol was greeted by rocket fire. The middle truck, which was the target of that fire, caught fire. With the surprise effect having only lasted a brief moment, the rest of the patrol abandoned the other two vehicles to take cover and organize a response. The skirmish lasted close to a quarter-hour.
