Incident Summary:

08/28/2006: Seventeen people were killed and 45 more were injured when a remote-controlled landmine blew up in the city of Lashkargah in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province. Among the dead was Helmand security chief Haji Mayoodin Khan, the target of the landmine. A Taliban spokesman confirmed that his organization was responsible for the attack.
