10/28/2006: Unknown perpetrators, believed to be affiliated with the Islamic insurgency in Algeria, ambushed a National Gendarmerie roadblock outside of the headquarters of the Municipal People's Assembly (APC) in Ain Zaouia, Algeria. One gendarme and two civilians were wounded before the assailants fled the scene.

The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
