Incident Summary:

12/24/2006: Padmakanta Jha, his daugher, and their driver were taken captive by suspected Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) cadres in Rampur Malhaniya, Saptari, Nepal. The Jha duo were released later the same day, while the fate of the driver is unknown. JTMM did not claim responsibility for the kidnapping, nor is the exact motive known, but group had been enforcing a ban in the area against vehicles belonging to pahade, or people from the hilly regions. It is believed that the driver, Umesh Magar, is a pahade.
