Incident Summary:

2/21/2007: Suspected members of Al-Qa ida in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb (AQLIM) placed two bombs near Mustapha Bacha Hospital in Algiers, Algeria. The first bomb was discovered in a student's briefcase placed near the hospital. The device was subsequently defused. The second bomb was discovered one day later on a street close to the hospital. That device was also disarmed before detonating. It is believed that the intent of the bombs, left in heavily trafficked locations, was to cause mass civilian casualties.
