Incident Summary:

04/04/2007: An abducted Afghan reporter was beheaded in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province by Taliban militants. Shohaabuddin Atal, a Taliban spokesman, claimed responsibility for the murder on behalf of his group. Atal said the reporter was killed because the Afghan government failed to negotiate for his release.
