Incident Summary:

5/27/2007: Four armed members of Al-Qa ida in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb (AQLIM) kidnapped Amjad Wahbah, the regional director of an Egyptian-Algerian company, and his Algerian driver in Tizi Ouzou, Algeria. The driver was freed almost immediately and Wahbah was not released until September 6, 2007. Following his release, Wahbah was treated at a local hospital before returning home to Egypt. The circumstances behind the release are unclear and it is unknown if a ransom was ever paid.
