08/31/2008: On Sunday night, at 0400, in Mardan, North-West Frontier, Pakistan, assailants detonated two improvised explosive devices targeting the Hoti Bridge, destroying the bridge, damaging five shops and one residence but causing no casualties. Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
