11/20/2008: On Thursday night at 0430, Vavuniya district organizer of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization, Rex Ganeshalingam, was abducted from his house by armed gunmen who arrived in a white van in Vavuniya, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. No group claimed responsibility for the abduction and no casualties were reported. The status of the hostage remains unknown.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
