Incident Summary:
12/06/2008: On Saturday morning, at about 0830, in the Khad'ra' district of central Kirkuk, At Ta'mim, Iraq, a suicide bomber detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) he was wearing as a vest near a group of police recruits near a checkpoint outside the Kirkuk Police Academy, killing one police officer, wounding six recruits, four civilians, and damaging the checkpoint and several vehicles. There was no reported motive behind the attack and no group claimed responsibility.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
