12/27/2008: Unknown perpetrators, believed to be affiliated with the Islamic insurgency in Algeria, detonated a bomb targeting an army patrol in Tariq Ibn-Ziyad, Algeria, on its way to begin a search operation in the area. Eight Algerian soldiers were wounded and it is unknown if the blast caused any property damage.
