02/12/2009: On Thursday, near Tebessa, Tebessa, Algeria, assailants detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) near a minivan, killing three civilians, one child, and damaging the van. Assailants detonated a second IED, killing two police and one firefighter responding to the first explosion. No group claimed responsibility, although it was widely believed al-Qaida Organization in Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) was responsible.
