Incident Summary:

03/16/2009: On Monday, four United Nations (U.N.) aid workers, three foreigners and a Somali national, were abducted en route to the Wajid airport in Somalia. The four were identified as Ali Dekow of Somalia and Marc Andre Post of France, both of whom work for the World Food Program; U.N. volunteer Paul Bampo of Ghana and Miragha Babayev of Azerbaijan, who both work with the U.N. Development Program. Al-Shabaab al-Islamiya claimed responsibility.
