Incident Summary:

04/06/2009: On Monday morning at 0800 , a parked car bomb targeted the motorcade of Brigadier General Sadoun, Deputy Director of the Internal Security Court, in the al Niayriyah neighborhood in northeast Baghdad. The blast killed one civilian and one security guard. Three civilians and another guard were wounded as well. The explosives were detonated remotely. It should also be noted that this was one of several attacks that took place in Baghdad on 04/06/2009, and there was an assortment of speculation in regards to who may be responsible. Among those named in the speculation were Al Qaeda in Iraq and members of the Sunni Awakening Councils. No one claimed responsibility for the attack. The U.S. military later asserted that the attacks appeared to be coordinated by Al Qaeda.
