Incident Summary:

05/01/2009: On Friday at approximately 1200 noon, in the Wasti district of southern Kirkuk, At Ta'mim, Iraq, a would-be suicide bomber, wearing an improvised explosive device, attempted to attack a Shiite mosque during afternoon prayers but was spotted by police officers, two of whom were shot and wounded as they wrestled the bomber to the ground. No group claimed responsibility, but authorities stated the bomber was a member of the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI).
