07/30/2009: On Thursday, in one of two related attacks, in the Salboni village in West Midnapore, West Bengal, India, assailants kidnapped three Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) members, identified as Arun Mahato, Amal Mahato and Brahmanya Singha Roy. The status of the hostages is unknown. No group claimed responsibility, but it was widely believed the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) was responsible.
