Incident Summary:

10/08/2009: On Thursday, in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, India, seventeen Indian policeman were killed and many were injured when a group of about one-hundred and fifty Maoist surrounded the Laheri police station and opened heavy fire for three hours in Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra. The rebels picked up the weapons of the slain commandos and fled into the forest. The attack was led by Tarakka, a woman leader of the CPI-Maoist, around 40 women may have been part of this attack.
