Incident Summary:

12/23/2009: On Wednesday, an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated in al Mashtal neighborhood in the Shaab district in eastern Baghdad, Iraq, targeting a number of Shia worshippers who were on their way to the city of Karbala to commemorate Ashura. At least three people have lost their lives and 28 others were injured. No monetary damage was reported. No group claimed responsibility.
