Incident Summary:

05/24/2010: On Monday, in the night, in Merca, Shabeellaha Hoose, Somalia, unknown assailants entered the residences of two officials working for the humanitarian organization WSL and kidnapped them. The officials were identified as Hasanow Mustafe and Sayid Ali, who were responsible for humanitarian operations of helping the impoverished people in the region. Eyewitnesses reported that the kidnapped officials were being held at Merca Central Police Station. No damage was reported and no group claimed responsibility, although it was widely believed al-Shabaab al-Islamiya was responsible. The status of the hostages is unknown.
