8/23/2010: Members of Al-Qa ida in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb (AQLIM) executed a customs officer in the Sahara in Algeria. The officer had been taken hostage in June; AQLIM stated that they killed him now due to the fact that the army was preparing to attack the group. The information was released in a statement; the officer's body was not located.
