01/24/2011: On Monday, in the al-Da'oum area of eastern Karbala, Iraq, a vehicle borne improvised explosive device detonated near processions of Shiite pilgrims. The blasts resulted in the killing of 25 people, and wounded 40. There were no specifications on civilian and police casualties. The amount of damage from the attack is unknown . No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
