01/29/2011: On Saturday, in Kandahar city, Kandahar province, Afghanistan, a suicide bomber on a motorcycle killed the deputy governor, Abdul Latif Ashna, as he left his home to travel to work. At least five other people were wounded in the blast, including one bodyguard, Ashna’s driver, and three civilians passing by. The attack caused an unknown amount of property damage to the vehicle and a Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousef Ahmadi, claimed responsibility for the attack.
