11/12/2011: Unidentified gunmen shot and killed Akhmed Asmanov, an aide to an imam, as he was returning home from a mosque in Matsal-Aul village, Dagestan, Russia. Asmanov was in the company of an acquaintance at the time of the attack; his companion suffered injuries from the attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incident and specific motive is unknown; however, Asmanov was an advocate of upholding communications with Muslim radicals.
