Incident Summary:

01/18/2012: Assailants opened fire on Malian Army personnel in an attempt to take over Tessalit, Kidal, Mali. At least 11 people, including one soldier and 10 assailants, were killed in the ensuing clash. This was one of two related attacks in different cities in Kidal on this date. The Azawad National Liberation Movement (MNLA) claimed responsibility for the incidents.
