Incident Summary:

01/31/2012: A suicide bomber attacked the house of Abdi Hassan Awale Qeybid in Galkayo city, Mudug region, Somalia. Qeybid was a former warlord, police commander, and Minister of Mineral Resources. At the time, he was conducting a meeting with city politicians. Five people died in the attack, but not Qeybid. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the incident, stating that they carried it out because of Qeybid's opposition to Sharia law.
