09/09/2012: An explosives-laden vehicle detonated in Al Riyadh area, Kirkuk, Iraq. Six civilians were injured in the blast. This was one of 36 attacks around Iraq on September 9, 2012. Al-Qa'ida in Iraq claimed responsibility for the incidents, claiming that they were revenge for the "campaign of extermination and torture of Sunni Muslim detainees in Safavid prisons."
