Incident Summary:

12/02/2012: Nine assailants, including suicide bombers, dressed in military uniforms attacked a joint North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Afghan National Army (ANA) airbase in Jalalabad city, Nangarhar province, Afghanistan. Two explosives-laden vehicles detonated near the entrance of the base and the assailants opened fire following the blast. The nine assailants and five other people, including soldiers and civilians, were killed in the attack; an additional 14 soldiers were injured. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.
