12/29/2012: Assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on Colonel Mutea Baktean in Mukalla city, Hadramawt governorate, Yemen. Baktean, a senior intelligence official, was killed in the attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, authorities suspected that Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) was involved.
