Incident Summary:
02/17/2013: A car bomb detonated in Saidiyah district, Baghdad city, Baghdad, Iraq. This was one of ten coordinated attacks in and around Baghdad on the same day. Approximately 37 people were killed and more than 100 others were wounded across all of the attacks. Al-Qaida in Iraq claimed responsibility for the incidents, stating that the blasts were in revenge for violent acts committed against Sunnis in the country.

Criteria 1

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
