03/14/2013: Assailants kidnapped provincial candidate, Abdul Kareem Qais, in Al Siniyah, Baiji district, Saladin, Iraq. Qais' father, cousin and five bodyguards were also kidnapped in the attack. The assailants contacted Qais' family demanding they make a statement dissuading people from voting in the upcoming election. The assailants did not identify their group name.
