Incident Summary:
05/11/2013: An explosive device detonated near the Awami National Party (ANP) election office in Karachi city, Sindh province, Pakistan. This was one of two bombings that occurred within minutes of each other in the same area of Karachi; this first attack was meant to target Amanullah Mehsud, an election candidate. Mehsud was unharmed in the explosion; however, at least 10 people were killed and 36 others were injured across the two incidents. Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the coordinated attacks.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
