Incident Summary:

06/20/2013: Assailants kidnapped a former United States (US) soldier in El Retorno town, Guaviare department, Colombia. The victim, Kevin Scott Sutay, was in the country as a tourist at the time of his abduction. In July 2013, The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) claimed responsibility for the attack, and offered to release Sutay as a good will gesture prior to peace talks. Sutay was released on October 27, 2013.
