07/21/2013: Assailants planted an explosive device near the Our Lady of Aparecida sanctuary in Aparecida, Sao Paulo state, Brazil. The device was defused without injury. While the intended target of the attack is unknown, sources note that Pope Francis was scheduled to visit the sanctuary later in the week. No group claimed responsibility for the incident.
