08/03/2013: Assailants fired upon military headquarters in Mapaang village, Compostela Valley province, Philippines. There were no reports of casualties; however, one soldier was kidnapped during the attack. The soldier was released on August 24, 2013. The New People's Army (NPA) claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that it was in response to extra-judicial killings carried out by the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
