Incident Summary:

08/09/2013: Assailants ambushed a van carrying Turkish Airlines employees in Beirut city, Beirut governorate, Lebanon. A pilot and a co-pilot were abducted, and the rest of the employees were let go. Zuwar al-Imam Rida claimed responsibility for this attack, stating that the pilots would be freed when previously abducted pilgrims in Syria were returned. The pilots were released on October 19, 2013, in a deal that also included the release of nine Lebanese pilgrims that were abducted in May, 2012.
