Incident Summary:

12/17/2013: Assailants attacked a police checkpoint in Shaigal Aw Shiltan district, Kunar province, Afghanistan. This was one of six attacks on civilian and police targets in this district on this day. Police returned fire, and in the ensuing clashes nine people, including seven assailants, were killed and six people, including five assailants, were wounded. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attacks.
