Incident Summary:

01/04/2014: Approximately six assailants attacked a joint Afghan-North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) military base in Ghani Khail district, Nangarhar province, Afghanistan. Five of the assailants stormed the base after a suicide bomber in an explosives-laden vehicle detonated at its entrance. At least seven people, the six attackers and one United States (U.S.) soldier, William K. Lacey, were killed in the attack. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.
