Incident Summary:
01/14/2014: Assailants fired mortar rounds on houses in Karma city, Al Anbar governorate, Iraq. This was one of four related attacks targeting civilians in Karma on this day. Four people were killed and six others were wounded across the attacks. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
