01/14/2014: Assailants attacked a government army unit stationed in Mahaday village, Middle Shebelle region, Somalia. This was one of two attacks by the same assailants on villages in the region on this day. Fifteen soldiers were killed across both attacks. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, the attack was attributed to Al-Shabaab.

The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
