Incident Summary:

04/01/2014: Assailants fired mortar shells at a pro-government district in Aleppo city, Aleppo governorate, Syria. This was one of two mortar attacks on pro-government districts in Aleppo on the same day. At least five people were killed and 26 others were injured across both attacks. Liwa Al-Tawhid, a subgroup of the Islamic Front (Syria), claimed responsibility and stated that the incident was in retaliation for the Syrian Army's violence against civilians and for its use of barrel bombs.
