Incident Summary:
04/17/2014: Explosive devices planted in three tunnels, which assailants had dug underneath a military barracks detonated in Hanano neighborhood, Aleppo city, Aleppo governorate, Syria. At least 47 people, including 27 soldiers and members of a pro-government militia and 20 assailants, were killed in the attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the blast to Al-Nusrah Front and the Islamic Front (Syria).

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
Criterion 2
There must be evidence of an intention to coerce, intimidate, or convey some other message to a larger audience (or audiences) than the immediate victims.
