05/04/2014: Assailants threw an explosive device at a passenger bus in Nairobi city, Nairobi county, Kenya. This was one of two coordinated bombings targeting buses on the same road. Three people were killed and 86 people were wounded in the twin attacks. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, authorities attributed the attack to Al-Shabaab.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
