Incident Summary:

08/01/2014: Assailants attacked security forces in Zummar town, Nineveh governorate, Iraq. At least 14 peshmerga members and 100 assailants were killed in the ensuing clash. The attackers took control of the town and surrounding oil fields the next day, on August 2, 2014. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
